The Sarasota / Bradenton area has much to offer for the entire family. Just a short distance from the villa, sunbathers will be tempted by the long stretches of Gulf Coast beaches, golf enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with over 80 courses, and shopping is abundant.  As can be imagined, fishing is a local pastime at the countless rivers, piers, etc. Furthermore, the Disney/Orlando attractions are just an easy 90 minute drive.

Siesta Key - A beautiful, remote barrier island with gorgeous, white sandy beaches. Small shopping/dining districts have a great atmosphere.

Downtown Sarasota - Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Mote Marine Laboratory, Gulf Coast Wonder and Imagination Zone, Ringling Museum, Sarasota Classic Car Museum, miniature golf, etc.

Within 30-45 minutes:

Venice Beach - Definitely worth a day trip. Great for shelling and known as 'the shark tooth capital of the world!' Wonderful seaside park and fishing. Dining and shopping can also be enjoyed at the lovely, unique town center.

Tampa and Tampa Bay - the 3rd largest city in Florida. MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry), Florida Aquarium, Lowry Park Zoo, Great Explorations Hands-on Museum, 5 major shopping plazas, etc

Busch Gardens - an African-themed animal/adventure park. Take a safari and ride the rollercoasters!

Adventure Island - a huge 30-acre water park right next to Busch Gardens

Orlando is an easy 90-minute drive from River Pointe:

Disney attractions - Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, water parks, etc

Sea World - visit Shamu the killer whale, see some endangered manatees, feed the dolphins and sea lions, and enjoy some rides.

Discovery Cove - swim with dolphins and stingrays, snorkel through colourful reefs and swim down a lazy river with waterfalls and a freshwater lagoon. What a great way to spend a day! (there are age requirements)
